Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before Getting A Payday Loan?
There are times in life when everyone needs or could use a little extra money and one way of getting that money easily and without much of a hassle is by getting a payday loan. However, considering the number of people who have found themselves trapped by the high interest these loans incur it may be wise to ask yourself a few question before applying for that payday loan.
The first question you should ask before applying for a payday or any type of loan is; "Do I really need the money?" While there are genuine emergencies that crop up such as illness in the family, necessary car repairs to get back and forth to work, and other such problems having a few extra dollars to go on vacation or buying that must have new outfit isn't a real emergency and certainly not worth going in debt for even short-term.
If you decide that you really need the money then the next question you should be asking yourself is; "Are there any other options available to avoid taking out a loan? Picking up some odd jobs, selling some items at a yard sale or on Ebay, or cutting back on spending to give you the extra money that is needed should all be explored before deciding to apply for a loan.
Once those options have all been exhausted and a loan seems to be your only choice then ask yourself if there is any place that you may be able to get a loan from a friend or relative that will give you more time to pay the loan back and won't charge interest. If not then is there a place where you might secure a lower interest loan. The less interest you have to pay on a loan the easier it will be to pay off the loan in full by the due date.
You also need to ask yourself if you can pay back the loan in full including interest in the short time that payment will be due. If not then you need to ask yourself if the payday loan lender is a CFSA affiliate. This will be important if that loan starts rolling over and the interest starts adding up. If the lender is a CFSA affiliate should the need arise you can ask for extended payment plan in order to stop that interest from accumulating and give you four paychecks to pay off the loan. If the lender is not affiliated with CFSA then other options may need to be explored.
Taking the time to ask yourself these questions before applying for a payday loan will allow you to explore all the options that may be available to you. Remember, if you can meet that financial emergency without taking out any loan at all you will be better off in the long run even if it means making some sacrifices to accomplish that goal.
If you do have to resort to a loan finding a mean of acquiring a short-term no interest or low interest loan is a better option than taking out a high interest payday loan. You may also have a longer time to pay off the loan which can ease some of the financial burden caused when the entire loan comes out of one paycheck.
Knowing your options may help you decide if that payday loan is really worth it.
